3Tera to Demonstrate Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop Running in the Cloud

3Tera to Demonstrate Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop Running in the Cloud at Citrix Summit 2008

 3Tera, Inc., the leading innovator of cloud computing technology and utility computing services, announced today it will be demonstrating for the first time Citrix XenApp and Citrix XenDesktop technologies deployed and running in a cloud environment using 3Teras award winning AppLogic Cloud Computing Platform during Citrix Summit in Orlando, FL, October 26-29, 2008 at 3Teras booth #510. Citrix Summit is an invitation-only event for Citrix partners to learn about the latest and greatest products and technologies for application delivery infrastructure solutions.

The market leading XenApp and XenDesktop from Citrix can now be offered as on demand services, leveraging 3Tera's enterprise grade cloud computing. Customers of all sizes will be able to take advantage of this technology, both in public external Internet based clouds and as a commercial enterprise strength platform for deployment in clouds behind the corporate datacenter firewall. The initial focus will be collaboration with Citrix and its solution partners to deliver continued application virtualization and desktop management and virtualization, with the added portability and scalability cloud computing enables.

With the introduction of XenApp in the cloud, 3Tera brings to Citrix and their partners a solution to host and manage enterprise applications and infrastructure in next generation datacenters and provides a natural complement to the recently announced Citrix Cloud Center (C3) portfolio, said Sumit Dhawan, vice president, product marketing, Application Virtualization Group, Citrix Systems. It delivers applications with massive scalability on demand, providing cost reduction, faster time to market, and high-availability of all applications to all users. We are excited to work with 3Tera to deliver cloud based application infrastructure solutions using industry leading Citrix application delivery solutions.

Citrix application delivery solutions are world class. Running XenApp on 3Teras AppLogic cloud computing platform further enhances its capabilities by adding on-demand deployment capability, global portability, scalability and disaster recovery that 3Tera's Cloud Computing platform offers, said Barry X Lynn, Chairman and CEO, 3Tera. System integrators and enterprises leveraging AppLogic now can deliver Windows services and mission critical applications as hosted services or in corporate datacenters, resulting in more efficient administration, lower capital expense and reduced time to market. Citrix VARs can offer XenApp and XenDesktop as on-demand, pay per use services.

Benefits for Customers
Cloud computing is dramatically changing the way applications are developed, delivered and deployed by everyone from Fortune 500 enterprises to small businesses and startups. Having XenApp and XenDesktop provisioned in a cloud environment adds significant benefits to the industry leading Windows application delivery solutions from Citrix.

  • Time to market AppLogics on-demand resource model increases the revenue opportunity, offers instant availability, and the ability to adapt to the needs of the business;
  • Lower CapEx The cloud computing model leverages commodity hardware and eliminates unnecessary over provisioning, allowing a utility pricing model;
  • Lower OpEx Administrators are freed from tedious manual provisioning and management of servers, so application operations are streamlined;
  • A turn-key system high availability "out of the box";
  • Cloud-burst Resources within the corporate data center and in the public cloud on the internet can be leveraged, providing maximum flexibility in capacity planning.
